Decided to give this another try - result is much more pleasing this time:

Wales - Camping in October
October is not usually that warm here in the UK, especially in Wales, but I had some time booked off work, so packed the tent and headed for Wales
As expected, I was the only one booked into the campsite - just how I like it: quiet:

Avoncroft
Through a family contact (hello Cathryn) Birmingham Photographic Society were able to book an out of hours evening slot with Avon croft Museum of Historic Buildings - a very impressive place with some stunning buildings to explore:

Brecon Beacons
This past weekend I spent a couple of nights away with a few members of the Birmingham Photographic Society at Ty Carreg, in the Brecon Beacons (south Wales).
Friday evening, we had hoped to do some night sky photography, but the cloud cover over the mountains looked ominous. As it happens, it's not really dark enough this time of the year to photograph the stars.

Lee Big Stopper
In preparation for an up coming weekend away with Birmingham Photographic Society, I took the opportunity to invest in a new filter system and a set of filters... enter the Lee Big Stopper:
The "Lee Big Stopper" is a Neutral Density filter that stops 10 stops of light... to put that into perspective, if your exposure is 1/8th of a second without the Lee Big Stopper, with it would require an exposure of 2 minutes !
In the photo above, we have the Lee Foundation Kit (the holder) with a Lee Wide Angle 77mm adaptor, the Lee Big Stopper, a Gradual Neutral Density filter and a Polarising filter fitted to the front of the holder.
We'll see how I get on next weekend
