David Fowler 23/06/1935-25/12/2017

Appologies for the lack of posts recently. Sadly, we lost our Farther over Christmas and I'm sure you'd apprectiate I have had more important things to do than maintain a blog.

Mind you, this give me an opportunity to publicly thank my Dad for introducing me to photography as it was one of his hobbies. Having served his National Service with the RAF, he always looked forward to seeing my airshow photos and as an avid nature and bird watcher, loved seeing my photos from the local reserves.

Yes I shall miss him dearly, but as my sisters have pointed out, he lives on in me.

Daddy/Daughter Day

Poppoed along to Cannock & District Car Club's autotest and managed a rig shot.

This was great fun to set up and I think makes for a great "Daddy/Daughter Day"

Custom VW Van

A proffesionally customised VW Transporter Van and it's owner out for a ride:

The light was a little poor (upsetting the camera setting) and my lens was a little dirty (grrr) - Might have to return and re-shoot this concept.

Great fun though - Mark, you are a star.

Prescott Hill Climb with the Peugeot Sport Club UK

Visited the Peugeot Festival at Prescott Hill Climb.

Track action all day and some fantastic maintained cars to view in the paddock:

Took a friend away to Wales for a spot of camping in the June heatwave.

Visited lots of locations and took a few photos:

Flour Shoot

This was a popular Birmingham Photographic Society event, so much so that with so many photographers arriving for the shoot, there was little time to perfect the shot I wanted.

That said, I managed to rescue a couple of shots, even though with no flash and high ISO:

Thankfully, BPS will be re-running the event in August.

Sunday 4 June 2017

Rig Shoot #3

Took a short drive out to Harvington Hall where one of the Volvo Enthusiast Groups were holding their annual meet - was surprised to find an old radio marshalling buddy with a fifty year old Volvo Amazon, so took the opportunity for Rig Shoot #3

Clent Hills

Another Birmingham Photographic Society outing, this time to the Clent Hills with the idea of taking some landscape photos.

Sadly, the sunset never really awed us, but with a little editing, I thought these worthy of sharing:

Rig Shoot #2

Arranged to meet up with Volvo nut Matt to try out the rig on his Yellow S40.

This was more of a test session, but we came away with some acceptable shots, especially after a little editing:

Rig Shot #1

I've been contemplating getting a car rig for some time... and now I've got one :-)

Within a couple of hours of collecting the 4.5m kit, I had my first photo and within another hour, at another location, I had my second:

I can see this becoming mildly addictive

Dudley Zooalogical Gardens

A Birmingham Photographic Society day trip out to the zoo.

I've been before, but it was great to share experiences and ideas with other photographers.
